Dreame L40s Pro Ultra: our review
19,000 Pa, an effective tangle-free brush and a dock that washes the mops in hot water then dries them. It's the robot that needs the least day-to-day maintenance, and that's what earns it first place.

- A household with children or pets, across several rooms, where you want the robot to manage on its own for weeks — even if it means paying for the brand's consumables.
Who it's not for
- A studio, or anyone who refuses to depend on proprietary consumables: the DuoBrush has no reliable generic equivalent.
What 19,000 Pa really change
Suction power is the heaviest criterion in our grid, but also the most misunderstood. Above 5,000 Pa, the gain on hard floors is marginal: the brush and mop do most of the work. The claimed 19,000 PaC count on carpets and rugs, where you literally have to extract hair embedded in the fibre. The sixth-generation TurboForce motor is presented as reducing noise at equal powerC, which, on a machine that runs during the day in an occupied home, matters more than a few extra thousand pascals.
The brush, the real differentiator
The DuoBrush HyperStream combines a rubber-bristle brush and a TPU brushC. The goal is not power but tangle resistance: on classic robots, long hair wraps around the axle and you have to cut it with scissors every two or three weeks. It's the chore that makes people give up on a robot. An important and frank caveat: this brush is proprietary, there is no reliable generic alternativeA, and replacing it therefore goes through Dreame at whatever price Dreame decides.
A dock that does everything
The PowerDock base empties the bin, rinses the mops in hot water at 75 °C, dries them, tops up with clean water and washes its own plateC. The manufacturer claims up to 100 days without interventionC. Hot-water washing is not a gimmick: a mop rinsed cold and poorly dried develops an odour after a few days, and that's the most common complaint about entry-level docks. One thing to know before buying: the dock is bulkyC, and you need to find it a spot near a water supply or accept refilling the tank.
Carpets, thresholds and real life
Three carpet strategies are offered in the app: removing the mops to keep carpets dry, lifting them for short-pile carpets, or avoiding them entirelyC. That's more useful than it sounds in a home that mixes parquet and carpets. The EasyLeap system, with its main and auxiliary climbing wheels, is claimed to clear thresholds and door rails up to 4 cmC — above the 2 cm standard, which settles the case of metal threshold bars on which many robots get stuck.
What should give you pause
The cost of ownership is the weak point. Proprietary consumables, an app that regularly pushes accessory purchasesA, and a bulky dock that imposes its place in the room. Over three years, the gap with a model using generic parts is realE. If you live in a small home without carpets or pets, you'll mainly pay for features you won't use.

Do you really need a dock with 100 days of autonomy?
Above 60 m² or with a pet, yes: it removes the need to empty the bin every day. Below that, a robot without a dock does the job for much less. The dock also adds a recurring cost in bags.
What's the difference with the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2?
The L10s Gen 2 claims 10,000 Pa against 19,000, but longer runtime and an extending mop for edges. It costs less and covers homes without thick carpets well. The L40s Pro Ultra targets households with carpets and pets.
Are consumables expensive?
