Mova LiDAX Ultra 800: our review
3D LiDAR and vision combined, no RTK antenna or perimeter wire, and cutting advertised within 5 cm of edges. It is the best compromise in the selection for a typical-sized garden.

No wire, no antenna: what that changes
Navigation is where most of a robot mower's comfort is decided. The LiDAX Ultra 800 combines a 360° 3D LiDAR with AI-assisted vision, without a perimeter wire to bury or an RTK station to plantC. The difference is concrete: an RTK robot depends on a clear sky and loses signal under dense trees, along a tall wall or under an eave. The manufacturer advertises mapping that works even in low or intense lightC — precisely the weakness of a vision-only system. On a tree-filled garden, that is the decisive argument.
Edges, where it all plays out
This is the difference between "I no longer mow" and "I finish with the edging tool every week". The UltraTrim 1.0 system offsets the cutting disc to mow within 5 cm of walls, hedges and edgesC, and the robot drives along borders where the lawn meets themC. Five centimetres remain five centimetres: it is not zero, and you will still need to pass along a wall from time to time. But the gap with a robot that leaves fifteen centimetres is visible from the terrace.
Terrain and coverage
Slopes of up to 45%, 4 cm obstacle clearance and 60 cm passages advertisedC, with rear-wheel drive and all-terrain wheels. Mowing follows a U-shaped patternC rather than a random grid, which gives an even cut and avoids missed areas; when the battery runs low, the robot returns to the station and then resumes exactly where it stoppedC. Managing two independent maps and 150 zonesC covers the classic case of a front and back garden, without buying a second machine.
Safety and everyday life
The TrueGuard system continuously monitors the environment and triggers alerts if the robot moves outside its mapped zone, with real-time tracking via the connectivity moduleC. On a device left outdoors that costs as much as an e-bike, that is not optional. The cutting height adjusts from 5 to 10 cm in the MOVAhome appC — note that the listing also states 3 cm as the low value, with an asterisk: we keep the value from the technical table.
What should make you hesitate
The 20 cm cutting widthC is the point to seriously consider: on the advertised 800 m², it lengthens every session, and the robot will run longer than a twin-deck model. Mova also remains a young brand in the mower segmentA, and the depth of the spare-parts network is not establishedE. At 13.8 kgC, winter storage requires planning a proper location.

LiDAR or RTK: which one to choose?
Look at your lawn before the spec sheets. RTK offers centimetre-level accuracy but requires a clear sky: dense trees, tall walls and eaves disturb the signal. LiDAR maps with laser without depending on satellite, which makes it the right choice on a tree-filled garden.
Is cutting within 5 cm of edges enough?
It is among the best advertised values on the market, but five centimetres remain five centimetres: you will still need to pass along walls occasionally. No robot on this page fully removes the need for an edging tool.
800 m², should you leave margin?
Yes, count 20 to 30% less. The advertised area corresponds to a flat, open, single-plot lawn. Slopes, narrow passages and separate zones reduce the real coverage.
Is the anti-theft protection any good?
The TrueGuard system triggers alerts as soon as the robot leaves its mapped zone, with real-time tracking via the connectivity module. It is a real plus on a device that stays outdoors, but it assumes an active connection.
